Well, I have an hour or so to kill before I catch the train back to Aber. I'm looking forward to going back. Coming home is nice, but I've been enjoying this year at university so much that I really love being back at my place. I've packed my bags already (all bar my xbox (hopefully not an exbox)) and I'm just sitting and waiting. I'm the kind of person who is always ready early, ready to go and impatient about leaving... Bad habit I guess.
I watched the last 2 films of my 10 rentals from Blockbusters: Sin City and Mr and Mrs Smith. Both I had wanted to see at the cinema, and both I missed. Sin City was great: stylish with a fantastic cast. I have the graphic novel to sit down and read sometime (after I finish the GTO manga), so I cannot compare yet. But from a quick flick through, the style and characterisations are uncanny. I really loved this film, although it wasn't as gripping as I'd hoped. Plus it had Devon Aoki in, whose face is both beautiful and strange... a less extreme version of that Scottish chick on the PS advert all those years ago. Really worked as a movie, with great performances all round.
Now, I'm a fan of hitman movies: Full Time Killer, Collateral, Leon, Grosse Point Blank... So I wanted to see hitman-rom com (but not quite) Mr and Mrs Smith. I liked this movie, but no doubt it gets short shrift elsewhere. There was the obvious chemistry between the leads, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and with Jolie looking like a siren throughout then it's no surprise that Brad and Jennifer Aniston made like hairs and split. It's corny and its light, but it works. Vince Vaughn as John Smith's partner who still lives with his mum is quite a good inclusion. Basically a battle of the wits as two hitmen (hitpeople?) need to reassess their (cover story) marraiges as they professionally collide. It was fun, so long as you just enjoy it for what it is.
