Hey guys,

Today was a pretty lazy day. Since arriving in Japan, I've been sleeping twice a day (the heat drains me). Yesterday, after writing my last entry, I went to bed and woke up around 10pm. I then headed out on the town (despite the fact that most of Kyoto was in Gion for the festivities...) . It was nice and cool outside, so it was a pleasant walk.

I ended up at a small izakaya (like a pub or bar) a good 20 minutes away. It was long and tight, about 5 tables, a projection of MTV and a long wooden, practical bar. There I had some Kirin beer and a glass of cold sake, along with some cheesy hotdogs. For two of us, I paid about £15, not too bad I guess.

On the way back, I got some doughnuts from Mister Donut, dropped into a  24hr bookshop, and stopped off at the arcades. Played Guitar Revolution and didn't score any points... I don't even know why! Outrun 2 went better, as did Time Crisis 4. For 100 yen a pop, it's not bad (less than 50p).

I then ended up back in bed some time in the mid morning after watching Japanese morning TV (not much to write home about!) Then finally I got up at 3pm. It's wet and cool today, nothing to complain about, except that it's going to get drier and warmer in the coming days.

If anything, my main problem today was the realisation that I'm tight money-wise. I can spend an average of £7 per day... A bus trip is a quid a ride, plus drinks are about about 50p, so it's possible, it just means that I have to have some lazy days. Not a bad thing, mind you... I'm here for two months so I can see what it's like to get by here. It is interesting to note that about £15's worth of shopping back home is half that here...

Anyway, tomorrow I'm heading into Shin-Osaka to get my International Students Card and meeting up with a local friend there. That means travelling there on my own, my first risky adventure. If you don't hear from me tomorrow then I'm lost! (I hope that doesn't happen!)
