So, I'm at home, working hard on my dissertation (hardly working?) Currently I've passed the halfway point for the minimum amount of words... Not far to go! It's nice writing about stuff that actually interests you, except I'm currently looking for a single quote in a single article or book whose name I can't remember... now that is bloody annoying!
Been a bit weird at home, I'm in a new house, my first time being here and things still aren't 100% homely. Things are still messy in places, my room needs some TLC that I just can't provide right now. On the upside, I've also been able to drive my Mum's Sedona, big car... automatic... bouncy suspension... It's quite trying, but nice to be back on the road!
Visited Blockbusters to pick up 4 films, two of which I watched this evening. The first was Guy X, a movie about a USAAF base in Greenland which hides a secret. It stars American Pie's Jason Biggs and Ronin's Natascha McElhone. The film was a good attempt, but just isn't engaging... I'm not certain what the secret is resolved to be, nor am I sure of what actually happens at the end, but it just doesn't grab you. It's a shame but Jason Biggs is surprisingly good... although I keep thinking of him in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, where he can't shake the 'pie fucker' stereotype.
The second film is one recommended to me by mishoni, Lord of War (the title, not mishoni's nickname). It's a bloody good film. It will teach you some facts of life if you are new to the concept of conventional arms proliferation, and it will prove what we all know: good guys finish last, or rather, bad guys place first. I highly recommend it, particularly for the Amnesty International advert that was on the disc (at least, at the start of the rental copy). Check it out... very swish and quite hard-hitting.
